The relationship was formalized through the U.S. Department of Defense’s Mentor-Protégé Partnership Program in 2016 and continues today. This Mentor-Protégé Partnership relationship combines a larger company's resources with a smaller organization's performance agility. Tyto Athene and VFI have worked hand-in-hand to develop, design, and implement projects for government customers, including the U.S. Marine Corps, the Department of Energy's Sandia National Laboratories and Idaho National Laboratory, the U.S. Army PEO EIS, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, and the Defense Logistics Agency.
